Healthy New Year: Clean Eating Destinations in Greater Chattanooga

January 4, 2019

A new year is here, and if you’ve set an intention to eat better and get fitter in 2019, knowing some of the best spots to grab a healthy meal is a great place to start. Fortunately, there’s a growing healthy eating scene in Greater Chattanooga, and options available within a short drive of all Pratt Home Builders communities. We’ve compiled a list of our favorites by area – and best of all they offer nutritious options on the go, without sacrificing taste.

Ft. Oglethorpe

We only have one home left in our Lakeshore Cove community, and if you’re a fan of eating healthy, whole foods, you just may want to check it out since it means being closer to the incredible Real Roots Cafe. Owners Tiffany and Matthew Lake put love into every wholesome smoothie and meal. The cafe is 100% plant based and vegan, but so tasty you don’t stop to think about it. They also have an array of healthy meal prep options to help you make easy, healthy choices all week long.

Downtown

Within a short drive of our communities on and at the foot of Signal, there are numerous options for fresh foods downtown.

Local Juice offers a rustic industrial atmospheres with grab and go kombuchas and healthy shots, plus unexpected raw plant combinations like broccoli and blueberries in their “Vitamin B nice” smoothie.

Cashew was one of the first vegan cafes in Chattanooga, and showcases a tasty array of foods that help with getting your daily quota of vegetables.

This week, Naked Foods also opened on the first floor of The Edney. If you’re on the Paleo diet or the popular Ketogenic plan, they have nutritous options that offer more protein and healthy fat such as grass fed beef and Springer Mountain Chicken. With a mission to help people eat better, not less, they have great options to fill up on the good stuff.

Hixson

We love that we are seeing a recent boost in healthy options in the Hixson area.  First Watch, close to Hamill Rd and a short drive from our upcoming Amber Ridge community, is a great spot to great a fresh juice and egg white omellette. They have hearty but healthy choices for lunch, too.

If you’re gluten free, one of the most popular choices is Mimi’s Gluten Free Deli. Locally owned and operated, they have a deli inside the store with a variety of healthier options for those with Celiac, or who choose to avoid gluten.

Ooltewah

Just a short drive from our three Ooltewah communities are a variety of fresh options. One of our favorites is Mixed-Up-Cup. Their frozen yogurts are made with quality ingredients, but they also have a delicious variety of wraps, salads and smoothies. The owner also owns the Be Yoga studio that’s upstairs, so these foods are made to pack a powerful punch for those with active lifestyles.

Cleveland

If you’re looking for fresh, local ingredients that taste more like comfort food, Lupi’s Pizza has the tastiest pizza in town. You truly can taste the difference in their meats and vegetables. They have both whole grain options and gluten-free available.
